To make a valid case of rightful separation, such a series of escalating discipline actions should detail oral warnings that have then progressed to written warnings, followed by suspension and then dismissal. While the jobholder is packing up, you must thoroughly document the termination meeting. While you don't need a separation letter, you'll need a release. The first paragraph should outline that it serves as a written notice, the grounds for the written notice, and the cause of the worker receiving the written warning.
